A fresh perspective on “working out”

As adults, we know that it is important to our health to move our bodies, but when did this idea of movement turn into a form of torturous and uncomfortable chore known as “working out”? Why have we placed so much focus on working out? I mean, what the heck happened to just moving our bodies and playing?!

That’s why we can’t get enough of this TED talk from Darryl Edwards. His fresh perspective on movement is so well...refreshing! Darryl mentions, "the world around us is our gym, better yet our playground", and he encourages us to "reach in and connect with your inner child, and listen to what they are telling you when they say, PLAY can help us fall in love with movement again".

This idea is obviously something that we connect to very deeply, and couldn’t agree more with. If we want to be happy and healthy, reseting how we think about working out, and movement in general, is the best path forward. Adults should definitely be taking tips from kids on this one. Let’s play games, dance, and get creative, and connect with others when we move our bodies! Make it fun, not work because “play can help us fall in love with movement again”!
